I accept most insurances for payment. The amount covered depends on individual policy constraints, and whether a deductible is met. If the deductible is met, the cost for the evaluation is usually between $40 and $200. I do not accept Medicare or Medicaid plans for testing services, with or without supplemental plans.
For those without insurance, or who have an insurance plan I do not accept, the private pay cost for a psychological evaluation is $250/hr. A typical ADHD evaluation, for example, would involve 5-6 hours of face-to -face testing and collateral interviews. Roughly the same amount of time is needed to interpret the data and write the 12-15 page report. The 10-12 total hours would be $2500 to $3000.
Evaluations for learning disabilities usually involve fewer hours while those with more complex referral questions would demand more. The amount of time required is always discussed up front, so there are no surprises. After the report is written, a session to review the results and answer any questions is conducted.
